Chinese dress is our starting point, not a rulebook.
AFTRDSK begins with the language of Chinese dress — its proportions, collars, closures, fluidity and restraint.
We do not approach tradition as something to reproduce exactly. Instead, we consider what can be softened, simplified and rebalanced for the present.
The result is clothing that carries a sense of origin without being held by the past.

OUR POINT OF VIEW
Tradition, reconsidered.
A standing collar. An asymmetric closure. A hand-finished knot. A silhouette that moves away from the body.
These familiar forms become a vocabulary rather than a formula.
At AFTRDSK, we preserve what still carries meaning, reduce what feels unnecessary and reconsider proportion so that each piece can exist naturally in a contemporary wardrobe.
The intention is not to make tradition look modern for the sake of novelty.
It is to allow familiar forms to feel relevant again.
SILK AT THE CORE
Material shapes the way a garment moves.
Silk sits at the heart of AFTRDSK.
We are drawn to its lightness, natural lustre and fluidity — qualities that allow a garment to change with movement, light and the body beneath it.
Jacquards and refined woven fabrics bring another layer of depth. Some patterns are immediately visible; others reveal themselves gradually as light moves across the surface.
We choose materials not simply for how they look in stillness, but for how they fall, breathe and move when worn.
The fabric is not decoration. It is part of the silhouette.
MADE IN THE DETAILS
Recognisable, without being literal.
Much of the character of Chinese dress lives in its details — the curve of a collar, the direction of an opening, contrast piping, knot closures and embroidery placed with intention.
At AFTRDSK, these elements are considered as part of the garment from the beginning rather than added afterwards as decoration.
Some are reduced until only the structure remains. Others are repositioned or allowed to become a focal point.
What matters is that every detail belongs to the piece as a whole.
Traditional references remain visible, but they never need to speak loudly.
MADE FOR THE PRESENT
Made to become part of your wardrobe.
AFTRDSK is not conceived as costume, nor as clothing reserved only for a particular occasion.
We design pieces to move through everyday life — work, travel, dinners, quiet afternoons and everything between.
A silk blouse can sit beside familiar trousers. A Chinese-inspired piece can be layered without asking the rest of the wardrobe to follow the same language.
Wear the pieces together or apart, close to their origins or entirely in your own way.
We believe clothing becomes meaningful when it stops feeling precious and begins to become personal.
The tradition remains. The way it is worn moves forward.
OUR APPROACH
Less symbolism. More substance.
We are interested in what remains when familiar cultural symbols are stripped back.
A silhouette. A material. A construction detail. A particular way fabric moves around the body.
These quieter decisions can communicate more than decoration alone.
That is why our work often begins with restraint — allowing material, proportion and craftsmanship to carry the identity of each piece.
Not every garment needs to announce where it came from.
Sometimes, it is enough to feel it.
